Rutes

"Froese" n. (fr-a'-z)
1. family name of Mennonite derivation, meaning simply
"from Frieseland" (region in the Netherlands).

2. commonly mis-pronounced in the anglicized manner, "fr-o'-z".
(pronunciation of "oe" vowel subject to traditional Mennonite
   phonetics rather than common English)

You're right. Nobody pronounces Froese the right way (as they do in Buhler, Kansas, Mennonite community) until I correct them. Thanks for the "Rutes" info to the rest of the world.

I recently started a blog for my wife's side of the family; www.limabeansnet.blogspot.com; Warner Froese Brown. Next I will work on the Froese Ediger side. Good to see our name pop up in your blog.
